December 2020: Parents' Council Christmas Raffle on 11 December
With Christmas right around the corner, so is the Parents’ Council’s yearly Christmas Raffle. This is our main fundraiser and we have a few new interesting ideas on how to use the money towards our children. Please look in your child's school bag for your Raffle Card. We would appreciate it if you could sell as many lines as possible. They are 1 euro per line. If you need additional cards, you can give the school office a ring. The Raffle will be held on 11th December.

Payment of the card can go into our bank account (details on the card). Alternatively you can place the money and card in an envelope and return to the school office. Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 restrictions we cannot make up hampers this year, however parents may send in a voucher. It will be raffled. The Parents' Council appreciates your generosity but there is no obligation. Please return raffle cards to the school office by 8th December at the latest.

December 2020: Chance to win €1,500 voucher for electrical equipment
County Carlow signed up a twinning arrangement with the big man himself Santa in the North Pole to send a special message to primary school children across County Carlow. The agreement meant that Santa took a secret visit to County Carlow and recorded a special message for all 44 primary schools. Now he wants the children, their teachers, their friends and families and all who know them to watch them on YouTube and like their video.

He made Mr. Swan & the Cathaoirleach promise that the school with the most likes will win a €1,500 voucher for electrical equipment for their school! Santa also had a quick chat with Sean Swan who has agreed to give the winning school a Samsung Tablet to raffle for a lucky student.

Cllr. Tom O’Neill, Cathaoirleach with Carlow County Council said, “In our primary schools, we have amazing young people who have been so good this year and I’m delighted Santa agreed to come record a special message for all the students.” Tom continued to say, “As a county, everyone is really pulling together to make this Christmas special and we in the Council are doing all we can to help everybody have a safe, happy and healthy Christmas.” Sean Swan, owner of Swans Electrical said, “I’m delighted to help out this year and the community in County Carlow has been so good to the business community this year in shopping local and also being local online, personally as a business person I’d like to thank the people of County Carlow who continue to shop with my store and many other businesses during this challenging time.”

October 2020: Halloween celebrations 2020
With reference to Halloween it will be a bit different this year. There will be no Halloween assembly as we will be continuing to keep children in their bubbles and pods. However, on Friday 23rd of October children can wear their Halloween costume into school. As they will be wearing it for the whole day please ensure that it is a comfortable outfit or that some of it can be worn all day. Faces can be painted before coming to school. Please don’t feel under pressure to buy costumes. We would love to see some homemade ones. If they have a costume from previous years they can wear it or add things on to it. Alternatively, they can wear clothing in Halloween colours such as black or orange. Each class will celebrate Halloween in their own way

October 2020: Shoebox appeal 2020
This year the Shoe Box Appeal is going to be run differently. Due to the effects of Covid-19 restrictions, it is not possible to send gift-filled shoeboxes from Ireland this year. Schools, families, friends, communities and businesses are being asked to TeamUpForTeamHope by donating gift-filled shoeboxes online. These donations will allow the local network of local partners in Africa and Eastern Europe to purchase items for shoeboxes, which will be delivered straight into the hands of children affected by poverty. Often these shoe boxes are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they deliver is incredible. Please visit the TeamHope website for all the information.

8 October 2020: October newsletter
We have reached October and your child has the first month of the school year complete. The children welcomed Fr. Pat Hughes to the parish. This year Halloween and the Shoe Box Appeal are going to be run differently.
